Came here for our lovely second time and was absolutely perfect 👍
The Roast was just how my mum would cook it , lovely 🥩 beef I had and my dearest Nextdoor neighbour had 🐑 lamb and my Niece had the chicken 🐔 big plates and such great polite happy warm welcome too for a Sunday and very busy but all coping well . Then desserts too were proper homemade taste 👅 apple pie 🥧 and custard , waffle 🧇 bananas and toffee sauce and cream , very filling , and lastly I had the Hot 🥵 Treacle pudding

Chris P - Hitchin, United Kingdom

Ate here with gf and her parents. I had steak and ale pie as did her dad, gf had giant yorkshire with cumberland sausage filling, her mum had a jacket potato with chilli. All portions were large with plenty fresh veg or salad and an additional jug of gravy and all were tasty. I had a mandarin cheesecake which was also really nice. We had two rounds so in total 4 main courses a dessert, 4 pints and 4 medium glasses of wine - the bill was 80 quid which I thought was a bargain. The food is simple and unpretentious but it is tasty and fantastic value. The service is also excellent - I made a mistake ordering chips instead of mash, the guy who served us overheard our conversation and a few minutes later brought over a side of mash. The £10.95 meal deal for a main course and a dessert is especially good value and it's no surprise the place is packed, mainly with older people

Really nice pub meal in a charming country location. Attractive garden seating area and children’s play area.
Very pleasant village near to Hitchin and Stevenage.
Traditional menu with a Grill section at a very cheap price. Steak & Salmon dishes were very nice.
Did takeaway during the lockdown which was much appreciated.
We will be back!
